Hello Digital Marketing Enthusiasts!

In this week’s roundup, we’re diving into some exciting updates from Google, TikTok, and Instagram. These changes are sure to give you a competitive edge in your digital marketing strategies. To see the digital marketing news & updates, check out the video below.

Google Boosts Business Profiles

Google is giving businesses a major boost by allowing them to add social media links to their Google Business profiles. This means your social media profiles will be front and center when your brand pops up in Google search and maps. According to data from Zipo, a staggering 86% of consumers rely on Google My Business when searching for local information. So, if you haven’t updated your profile recently, now is the time to do so.

TikTok Enhances Accessibility with Auto Captions

Next up, TikTok is taking a significant step towards accessibility by adding auto captions by default on all videos starting next month. A joint study from Verizon and Publicis Media found that up to 80% of viewers are more likely to finish a video with subtitles. Half of these viewers preferred captions because they like watching videos with the sound off. This clearly shows the importance of auto captions in your content.

Additionally, TikTok is blurring the lines between the digital and physical worlds with its innovative out-of-phone advertising solution. This feature allows brands to extend their TikTok campaigns onto billboards and other out-of-home advertising formats, thereby broadening the reach of their promotional content.

Instagram Introduces Group Sharing Feature

Lastly, Instagram is embracing enhanced group sharing with a new feature that lets you share a story with multiple group lists at once. This means you can carefully select who sees your updates. According to Facebook, 50% of its users are part of five or more groups. Shifting this dynamic to Instagram is a smart move. Consider creating a group for your audience on Instagram and find ways to engage with them using these features.
